The Economics of Cutting the Cord

September 6, 2016 by Eric Rosenberg

I got rid of my cable in January, 2010. It was a liberating and awesome moment. Cutting the cord is one of the easiest ways to save on home expenses. But when I tell people, they ask, “what about sports, what about new TV shows?” I don't need sports or new shows, I'm happy with old shows. But if you are interested in keeping sports and new shows without cable at home, read on for a full breakdown.

How to Fix a Leaky Shower Head

July 20, 2015 by Eric Rosenberg

This weekend, I had a small plumbing issue that needed attention. People often pay $100 just for a plumber to walk in the door. I was able to fix my own leaky shower head and save the money. I recorded a “how to” video of the repair. I hope you enjoy it!

May 29, 2014 by John Schmoll

I often get asked how my family is able to keep our grocery bill so low. We have a family of five and are able to easily stay within our budget of $475 per month, often with some left over at the end of the month. I readily admit that it can be difficult to maintain a strict grocery budget, but it can be done – you just have to work at it. I’ve shared how to save money on groceries in the past, but today I want to give some specific tips as to how we keep our grocery bill so low. Should You DIY?

May 22, 2014 by Derek Sall

Have you ever tackled any Do-It-Yourself projects? I bought a foreclosed house in 2011 and had never before done any sort of construction work on my own. But, thanks to YouTube and my new-found friends at Lowes, I was actually able to figure out quite a lot.
