Jess Perez became an international supermodel in her quest for a great paycheck and world travel, but found that getting paid in the modeling and fashion industry is not easy or straightforward. To solve the problem, she put on her CEO hat and founded Tycoon, an app for models and other freelance and contract workers to manage invoices, billing, and payments. Listen in to this fun interview to learn about the business struggles of the modeling world, and how one model is hustling to overcome the challenge.

What We’re Chatting About This Week

Welcome to episode 87! This episode’s guest is different from our typical guest… she’s an international supermodel! What you may not have known is that many people in the modeling and beauty industries are freelancers – like a lot of entrepreneurs I talk to on the Personal Profitability podcast.

This episode’s guest, Jess Perez, realized the other freelancers in her industry were struggling with getting paid: they didn’t have accounting software, lacked accurate tracking and more. Jess took that knowledge and her own hard work to build her own app, and now she’s the CEO of her own start up helping those in the creative industry get paid.

We talk entrepreneurship, getting paid, and more in this episode – you don’t want to miss it!

This Week’s Guests

Jess is a former Sports Illustrated model and now the CEO and founder of Tycoon. Jess created her app to solve a personal pain point as a freelancer: tracking who owed her money and knowing how much she had earned. Close to 15,000 freelancers of varying professions have downloaded the Tycoon app.
