Have you ever heard of financial advisors? You may think that financial advisors are only for the wealthy, but they’re not! In this week’s episode of the Personal Profitability Podcast, I talk with Michael Anderson, a financial planner with the XY Planning Network about financial planning, money lessons, and more.

Also, don’t forget about the Personal Profitability Bootcamp! You can sign up here. It’s a free, week-long series on how you can achieve your own personal profitability!

What We’re Chatting About This Week

Welcome to episode 101 of the Personal Profitability Podcast! I’m so excited about this week’s guest, because he’s my first guest from Ventura, CA (where I live!)

It’s a funny story about how we met, actually – all because of one of my favorite conferences, FinCon! Anyway, today’s guest has a fascinating story. He grew up in a not-ideal financial situation, learned a lot of lessons, and then became a financial advisor as an adult. Our guest, Michael Anderson, is part of the XY Planning Network, my favorite nationwide, fee-only financial planning network.

In this episode, we’re going to cover a lot, but we’re particularly going to cover what financial planners do and what you should look out for when you’re considering a financial planner. You won’t want to miss this episode!

This Week’s Guest

Growing up, my parents didn’t have a plan for their future or even their next thirty days. It was a hand-to-mouth effort each month – one that I vowed not to repeat. My dad always encouraged me to do better than he was able to. When I left for college, I took his encouragement to heart: My goal was to not only do better for myself and my family, but to help others do the same.

I became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 2010 and have been helping individuals and families manage their finances ever since. Solid financial management has had a huge impact on my life, and I find it incredibly gratifying to help others in this way. What I like even more is how financial services have become more accessible to the entire population. Technology has positively disrupted the financial services industry and I have made it my passion to embrace these changes and pass the savings onto you. Traditionally pricey offerings are now much more affordable.

Outside of the office, I love spending time with my wife, Annie, and our three boys. We live in Ventura, CA.
