If you read the news today or listen to talk radio, you will most likely hear some mention of unemployment and how bad the economy is. I disagree, the economy is in great shape. You just need to look after yourself to ensure your personal economy stays on top.
Over the last couple of years, I have been very entrepreneurial. I have started three small businesses and the IRS requires that I track the income and expenses for tax reasons. While this may sound daunting, it is actually not difficult if you know where to start.
This past weekend, I moved into my new condo. It takes a lot of work to move, and you have to decide if it is better to pay a professional moving company or make the move on your own.
What always turns out to be an after thought, though, is the gift. Going to a wedding is not cheap. Flight, hotel, and rental car can easily approach $500 depending on the destination. Once you factor in meals, bar visits with friends, airport parking, and other incidental costs, $500 becomes conservative. If you are in your 20s or 30s, you might have several of these per year. Ouch!
I am on the “every other Friday” payroll, as with many people around the United States. This year, September is the second of two months where I get three paychecks. Because I am used to two paychecks per month, it is like a bonus check.
